Welcome to the Borough of North Haledon’s website.  We hope that you will find its new appearance attractive as well as user friendly. We are committed to our goal of supplying our residents with the most up-to-date information in the timeliest manner.  As always, we are open to suggestions on ways we can improve this very important medium for the distribution of important Borough information.  Please call my office at 973-427-4129 or come to a Mayor and Council meeting if you have any concerns.  Thank you.

2018 Final Tax Bill:

As a result of the state announcing the additional school aid so late, the mailing of tax bills was delayed, and the extension to pay your taxes has been extended to August 31st.  Please remember that taxes are due August 1st and if they are paid after August 31st interest will be collected going back to August 1st.  Click here for a letter sent out with tax bills from Mayor. 

Update on Paving and Milling for County Roads: 

Update on roadwork: Monday, August 13th to Wednesday, August 15th- milling of Belmont Avenue starting by Nassau Street and working way down, weather permitting. Friday, August 17th and Monday August 20th paving of Belmont Avenue. High Mountain Road from Werner Avenue to Reservoir Drive will be milled and paved August 20th to August 23rd.  Please plan alternate routes.

Manchester Regional Summer Food Service Program

Coyote Sighting

There have been recent sightings of coyotes on Clowes Street. This street is off Manchester Ave and Robert Street and near Linda Vista Ave., Rothesay Ave. and Terrace Ave. Please take proper precautions and be sure children are supervised and pets not left outside. Interested in learning more about redevelopment zone

If residents wish to inform themselves about information regarding the redevelopment zone and the possibility of additional townhouses/ apartments on Belmont Avenue, the Mayor will be happy to meet with them anytime. All the information regarding the above, is at the Municipal Building, such as charts and photo renderings. The Mayor would suggest meeting at the Municipal Building, pick a night or afternoon, and he will make himself available. You can also attend the third Wednesday of the month Mayor and Council Meeting or attend the Planning Board Meeting on the second and fourth Thursday. You can contact the municipal building with possible dates, or email the mayor at mayor@northhaledon.com.

Saw Mill Road Culvert closure 

The County's Contractor will be repairing the culvert on Saw Mill Road, beginning on (or about) April 23, 2018. The project requires a road closure, so look for detour signs or plan an alternate route. The project duration will be approximately 140 days.

Response to need for Ambulance Coverage:          

At the Council Meeting on October 18th, the Borough of North Haledon and the City of Paterson entered into a Shared Services Agreement for Emergency Medical Services with the Paterson Fire Department. The Paterson Fire Department will be responding to all ambulance calls in the Borough of North Haledon, except for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and midnight, when the North Haledon Volunteer Ambulance has a duty crew.  Whenever possible, patients will be given a choice of destination medical centers located in Paterson or Wayne. Patients’ requests to be transported to medical facilities in other New Jersey municipalities will be considered providing the request does not compromise the health of the patient. Paterson will bill customers using its emergency medical services through customary billing procedures, and will accept assignment from the patient’s insurance company, but will not balance bill, and if the patient does not have insurance coverage, Paterson will not send the patient a bill.

Veterans exemption from payment of municipal parking  meters:

NJ Law permits exemption exemption from payment of municipal parking meters, for up to 24 hours, for disabled veterans and Purple Heart recipients under specific circumstances. Click here to find out more.

Brush/Branch Drop Off

Brush and branches no bigger than 6 inches in diameter and 6 feet long can be dropped off at the recycling center.  No trees or bases of trees will be picked up curbside, nor will they be accepted at the recycling center. Brush/branch drop off is only permitted on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

Tree Branch Removal 

If a tree fell on your property, it is your responsibility as the property owner, to have the tree removed by contacting a tree contractor.  No trees or bases of trees will be picked up curbside, nor will they be accepted at the recycling center.
