The lawsuit brought on by the members of former North Haledon Fire Company Number 1 has been resolved with the judge enforcing the reverter clause that was put into the agreement when the property the firehouse sits on was given to the members of the former fire company by the Borough of North Haledon. The judge awarded the premises to the Borough. This resolves the law suit. I encourage everyone to read the judge’s decision – see link. The members of the Governing Body will discuss alternate uses for the building in the future.
I would like to thank the members of former North Haledon Fire Company Number 1 for their prior service and encourage any former member to join the North Haledon Fire Department located on High Mountain Road.
Borough residents have been and will continue to be protected by the members of the North Haledon Fire Department located on High Mountain Road. The new developments built, and proposed to be built, on Belmont Avenue, can only be serviced by the ladder truck, which is housed in the High Mountain Road fire house. According to our insurance company, the Borough only needs one centrally located fire house, which has more than enough volunteer members to protect the Borough. - Mayor George Click here for lawsuit decision.
